L. rupella Denis & Schiffermüller
Adult Characteristics
Depicted in Razowski (1978). Wingspan 13-17 mm. Head rusty yellow. Forewing dark brown with purplish sheen and four pale yellow spots; a dorsal spot near the base at a positive angle, one at tornus, and two on the costa inside and outside tornal spot, respectively.
Comparison with similar species
None reported.
Host, oviposition, and larval feeding habits
Larva is said to feed on Adenostyles (Asteraceae) in the Alps, but this record is highly suspect. The adult appears in early summer
Geographic distribution
Throughout central and northern Europe, and east to the Altai Mountains.
Habitat
Reported from Fennoscandia in rich deciduous forest.
